A Message from Pastor Al…

“One generation shall praise your works to another.”

             As we are about to launch this new capital funds campaign, I want you to know that I count it a great honor to be your Pastor.  When I think about God’s goodness to us in the past, I am filled with gratitude.  When I think about what the Lord wants to do for us and through us in the future, I am filled with anticipation.

             The Bible tells us, “One generation shall praise your works to another.”  We are reaching out to our community and the world to make disciples for Christ today because of those who went before us.  If we are to influence our generation for Christ and pass on to our children (and children’s children) this rich heritage and dynamic church fellowship, the success of this giving campaign is a necessity.

            The program has a great title, “The S.O.L.O.M.O.N. Campaign”.  This represents the need to be “Securing Our Legacy, Our Ministries, and Our Needs”.  Like King Solomon who stepped up to the challenge from the vision of his father, David, and built the remarkable Temple for the Lord in Old Testament times, we too can step up to build for the continuing Kingdom of God.  As Solomon did, we can all make a significant difference as we allow our giving to bless future generations for Christ’s sake.

            This visionary plan provides all of us a wonderful opportunity.  It is the opportunity to know in a fresh way the blessings which come through giving.  Jesus said, “give and it will be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over…” (Luke 6:38)

            I truly believe that we the people of the Elmer United Methodist Church can step up and accept this challenge which S.O.L.O.M.O.N. offers.  Let us each enter into this exciting effort carefully, prayerfully, and enthusiastically.
