Thanks to EVERYONE who helped make this year's VBS a SUCCESS!
What is VBS?:
(Vacation Bible School)
Vacation Bible School (“VBS”) is a community outreach
program in the Elmer area. Three churches in the Elmer area,
the Elmer Presbyterian Church, St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church
and Elmer Methodist Church all join together for a week of fun,
fellowship and service.
The VBS week is
held at either the Elmer Methodist Church,
Church and Main Streets in Elmer or the Presbyterian Church
located on Route 40.
During the week, we usually collect items for a shelter or a program
that has a need in our surrounding community.
We serve the
children a dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
This usually consists of chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese,
hot dogs, etc. and we end with pizza on Friday evening.
After dinner, we have opening exercises where we sing and talk
about the evening’s upcoming events. In the opening exercises,
we also gather our offering for the evening.
After that, the kids have an evening full of bible study, group singing,
crafts, and recreation associated with the specific theme of the week.
We close the evening with a wrap up of the evening’s bible story and
singing.
We rock the foundation of the sanctuary with singing and praising God.
On Friday evening, we end the week’s activities with a bond fire and ask
the
parents and families join us for this tradition. It is a wonderful way
for the parents
to see what we have been doing all week at VBS.
This past year
during VBS, we had almost 100 kids, adults, and helpers
attend for two nights. This is the most we have had attend in the
history of VBS.
We have an exciting fun-filled evening with games, bible stories, crafts
and singing.
This is an important
outreach ministry of the Elmer area, and we hope that you
will be interested in joining us or sharing your children with us for
the week.
We always need volunteers to help us cook, serve the meals and clean up,
teachers, helpers, and people to lead in our singing, recreation, bible
stories,
and crafts.
If you are interested in helping support this ministry either with your
time,
spiritual gifts, or money, please feel free to contact Joanne Daly at
856-358-8826
or
trdandjcd@comcast.net. You may also contact the church office for
more
information.
Volunteers Always Needed! Teenagers (7th grade and up) to 99 No help will be turned down.
Thank you for
taking the time to visit our website.
We praise and thank God for the wonderful blessings he gives us during
the VBS week. I also want to thank you for sharing your child(ren) with
us during the
week. |
